EXECUTIVE BOARD



President: VANESSA JONES

Vanessa Jones was born and raised in nearby Madison, Alabama. She moved to Decatur from Virginia in 2011 after marrying native, Tyler Jones. Eager to meet people and become involved in her new community, she joined JLMC that same year. Throughout her JLMC tenure, she has served in many different leadership positions and was awarded the Mary Liz Beaton Award in 2013. Vanessa holds a BS in Economics and Finance from The University of Alabama and works as a Senior Program Analyst at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center. She attends First United Methodist Church of Decatur and is a member of Decatur Cotillion Club, Decatur Morgan Hospital Foundation Guild, and Decatur Morgan Hospital Ambassadors. She’s a dog-mom to a Cavalier King Charles named Violet. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, running, and cheering on Alabama football. 


President-Elect: erin cossey

Erin Cossey is a University of Alabama graduate and Morgan County native. After obtaining a degree in Interior Design at UA, Erin moved back to the area and joined JLMC in 2012. Erin is the wife of Aaron Cossey and the mom of 3 pups, Curtis, Lottie, and Elfie, who all make regular appearances around town and at JLMC outings. Erin owns and runs her own interior design business, Erin Cossey Interiors, and also works as the Membership Director of Decatur Country Club. “I am thrilled to serve on the Board for this wonderful organization. JLMC has been instrumental in connecting me to the community, and I look forward to doing my part to give back to Morgan County."



Community vice president: penny townson

Penny Townson is a Tennessee native, but transferred to the Junior League of Morgan County after marrying her husband Brad in August 2014. She has a BA in History and an MPA with a concentration in Public Advocacy from Auburn University. After several years with the State of Tennessee, Penny is now the Morgan County Economic Development Association’s Project Manager. Outside of work, she is a member of the Decatur Morgan Hospital Foundation Guild, Decatur Cotillion Club, Decatur Morgan Hospital Ambassadors, Decatur Kiwanis, and First United Methodist Church. Penny enjoys tennis, watching football, traveling, and spending time with her family and dogs, Bailey & Oswin. Penny and Brad are expecting their first child in October.


FUND DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR: BRITTANY SNEED

Brittany Sneed is a native of Decatur, AL. She graduated from the University of Alabama in 2009 with a degree in Chemical Engineering and is employed as a Manufacturing Engineer at 3M. In her free time she enjoys volunteering with other non-profits, running, playing tennis and keeping up with her two dogs, Gabby and Rico. 



treasurer: erica thompson

Erica Thompson is a graduate of the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and Secondary Education. She teaches Chemistry and Physics at Lee High School in Huntsville, Alabama, as well as sponsors the Junior/Senior Prom. Originally from Madison, Erica moved to Decatur following her marriage to Brent Thompson. Erica and Brent have been married for three years and are currently expecting their first child, a boy, in December 2016. In her free time, Erica enjoys reading novels, playing with her two Labrador retrievers, and crafting. 


Recording Secretary: BRITTNY WATSON

Brittny Watson works as an Environmental Engineer at Indorama Ventures Xylenes and PTA, LLC (IVXP, formerly BP) in Decatur, AL.  She enjoys working out, traveling, and eating. She joined Junior League in 2011 as a Decatur transplant and has really gotten to know her community through JLMC.  She has served as the Provisional Chair, Mardi Gras 5K Chair, Fundraising Chair (Board Position), and this year will serve as the Recording Secretary. 


CORRESPONDING Secretary: EMILY STORY

Emily Story is from Decatur and a graduate of Decatur High School. She is also a graduate of the University of Alabama where she received a BA in English Literature and Communications. She works at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center as Technical Editor Team Lead, employed by Arctic Slope Regional Corporation in Huntsville. Emily is married to Christopher Story, also a Decatur native. They have two dogs: Isabel and Reuben. She enjoys reading, cooking, and Alabama football. Emily is also a member of Decatur Cotillion Club and the Alumni Advisory Committee for Alpha Omicron Pi at UAHuntsville. She and Christopher will welcome their first child in November 2016. 


SUSTAINER REPRESENTATIVE : JENNIE-MARIE McMASTERS

Jennie-Marie McMasters was born and raised in Decatur. She has a BS in Interior Design and business from Auburn University. After college, she moved to Seaside Florida and practiced design until she married her high school sweetheart, Carlton McMasters, and moved back to Decatur. Jennie-Marie joined Junior League in 2004, was corresponding secretary for a number of years and received the Mary Liz Beaton award in 2008. She began story time at Delano Park as part of her involvement with Delano and Junior League. Carlton and Jennie-Marie have three daughters: Emma Hensley (8), Mary-Reed (6) and Lily (4). They are members of Central United Methodist Church. Jennie-Marie is a member of the Decatur-Morgan Hospital Foundation Guild, Decatur Assembly, Decatur Cotillion and the Delano Park Conservancy Board. She loves being a part of Junior League board and looks forward to all this year holds for JLMC.
